New Site Update

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Although I don’t have a lot to report, I thought I’d post an update on my new Pajamas affiliate site. As I said before, I started with one of my wordpress affiliate themes. I’ve spent the las tfew days picking colors and working on the graphics for the home page. Most all other images will be provided by the merchants so I don’t have to worry about those. The links obviously don’t work yet as I really have no data other than a few test posts.

I also got the product pages updated to use custom field instead of the excerpt so that will make it a little easier when I finally get around to uploading all of the product catalogs.

I think for the most part I’m done with the design, with the exception of some small details. Now it’s time to go searching through all of my merchants to see who has the stuff I’m looking for.

I think it’s turned out pretty nice so far but if you have any suggestions I’d be happy to hear them. I’m hoping to launch it by the end of the month. Then I can start my link building promoting etc..

Thanks for reading. Now go buy something on my Coupon Codes site. ;)

The birth of a new site

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

My coupon codes site is on autopilot until Saturday or Sunday so I thought I’d start a new project and thought it would be cool to let people see the progress live. My new site is pjsloungewear.com. It’s going to be a PJ’s,Loungewear, lingerie, etc.. store.

I’m using one of my Wordpress Affiliate Shops but making a bunch of modifications. All I’ve done so far is removed excerpts and switched them to use custom fields for the images.

I’m also using the Category Icons and Post Ratings plugins. I just started today so there’s a lot left to do. I need to update the header, fix the links in the side bar, change the colors etc.

I alos need to get me data feeds straightened out so when it’s real I can upload all my data. I haven’t the slightest idea how many posts that will end up being but I’m guessing it will be over 10k.

So here I go again, check back often at pjsloungewear.com to see the progress.
I’ll try and post updates here as well but I’m gonna be busy getting this up and running.

Original content, they say. SEO, they say. Yeah right

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Is it original, compelling content if you’re writing about the same thing as everyone else?
Sure you have your take but really. I think if I see one more blog post about ebay dumping Commission Junction, I’m gonna fucking puke!

There are really only a few blogs I read, since the so called “Supper Affiliate” blogs pretty much just make me sick. But like a few weeks ago, they were all posting about Jason Calacanis. Who the fuck is he anyway? Should I know? Well, I didn’t, don’t and still don’t care. He say’s I’m a spammer? Well I think he’s an asshole. Does that make it true? No!

Every day I go to these few blogs and when they have an update, it’s always on the same subject. Way to be original guys!

Oh, and thanks for all the helpful information too.

  • Find a niche, blah blah blah.
  • Get a domain, blah blah blah.
  • Keyword research, blah blah blah.
  • Post original content, blah blah blah.
  • SEO, blah blah blah.

Here’s a little analysis piece on one of the sites I visit….

Error: No description meta tag was found. The description meta tag is used by many search engines. Consider adding a description meta tag.

Warning
:
No keywords were found. The keyword meta tag is still used by some search engines. Consider adding a keyword meta tag to this page.

And you want to tell me how to SEO my site? No Thanks. I’d rather take singing lessons from Paris Hilton.

Does this post make any sense? Probably not. I’m tired and aggravated and sick of seeing the same crap over and over and over again.

Oh well ,I’m tired and going to bed, Good night, and stay tuned for more incoherent rantings.

My wordpress Affiliate Shop

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

dogsrule.usI’ve seen a lot of the affiliate blogs post about how wordpress is a must have for affiliates. And while I agree, the lack of actual “Storefront” templates for wordpress is a downside.

I see a lot of affiliate sites that just pick a template and go with it. Although that may work for them I always hated how they still looked Blog-like. So with that I went on a hunt for something to use for my site. I’ve used Joomla and OSCommerce in the past and while they’re nice and all, they a big PITA to use…at least in my opinion. OScommerce doesn’t even really offer an option to use it as an affiliate shop, at least that I was able to find. So I gave up on those.

My search for a decent wordpress template didn’t really yield any better results so I was left with one choice… To make my own! So here it is, you can see the working site at dogsrule.us. I’m still adding products to the site and may make a few tweaks to the design here and there but it otherwise complete. :) Somehow over the last week, I’ also gained a PR2 on the site, with Zero back links. People say PR doesn’t really mean anything but it’s still cool as far as I’m concerned.
